Prerequisites: CCNA, CCNA Voice or ICND2. Note that CCVP candidates must have CCNA Voice as a prerequisite.  

Audience: PBX installation and maintenance technicians, designers and system engineers, those who want to challenge the Cisco CVOICE v6.0 certification exam. 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • Understand telephony network infrastructures
  • Understand Cisco voice hardware deployment options including Integrated Service Routers and DSPs
  • Configure Cisco switch/router interfaces for telephony
  • Understand the pros and cons of various codecs deployed
  • Determine and configure hardware and software media resources for transcoding, MOH and conferencing
  • Connect to the PSTN via POTS, tie-line and ISDN - QSIG
  • Configure H.323 gateways and gatekeepers
  • Configure MGCP Gateways using Cisco Unified CM and voice gateway routers
  • Configure SIP Gateways
  • Understand VoIP protocol suites
  • Explain E.164 addressing, basic and advanced dial plans
  • CUBE implementation and configuration
  • Connecting to IP Telephony providers

  • Network implementation options based on size and complexity
  • Cisco Integrated Services Router and switch configuration
  • Media configuration in hardware and software for trancoding, conferencing and music-on-hold
  • POTS, FXO, FXS, E&M, ISDN PRI, QSIG
  • Dial-peers, hunt groups
  • Digit collection and manipulation amd advanced call routing
  • TDM signaling, line and trunk types
  • Analogue to digital, IP to digital, IP to analogue conversion
  • Codec selection
  • SIP, MGCP and H.323 Gateway configuration using the Integrated Services Router and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager)
  • Cisco Unified Border Element configuration

Assessment: A comprehensive course exam will be given based on class material.
